Norm and I had the opportunity on Thursday of last week, to go on a tour of the tabernacle at Temple Square. The coolest part was that we were able to go down where the dressing rooms of the choir and see all of the different clothing they wear and how the dresses are made for the women. It is amazing what a tremendous amount of dedicated people there are behind the scenes. Talented, and loving people who make that choir happen. For what you see when you witness this wonderful choir, there are hundreds of people working to see that the performance is the best it can be.
Naturally I was interested in how they come up with all of the dresses, and how they sew 250 of them. Believe it or not, there is ONE lady that sews every one of those dresses. There are several people that cut them out and help to fit them, but one lady that sews them. The detail in the planning and the ultimate result is a wonder, down to the jewelry, the colors, the amount of fabric they have to buy (thousands of yards), the length of time they keep the dresses, the way they make sure everyone has the same thing on.
We got to go up behind the organ, or rather right beside it and see the tabernacle from the choirs view!!! That was really something to behold!!!
Then, we were able to witness a practice for Music and the Spoken Word the following Sunday. The Air Force Reserve Band were there as guests and the music was so uplifting and spiritual. I found myself wondering if any of that band would ask questions about the gospel just by witnessing the spirit there. There was a number that they performed that was outstanding with bagpipes and drums. What a tribute the whole program was to our service men and women and all those that have worked to preserve our safety and the safety of our country.
After we got home, a bunch of us decided that the music was so awesome we wanted to go back, so, we skipped church and went to the actual performance of Music and the Spoken Word. I don't suppose our bishop was too cool with that, but I will say that it was awesome. (Sorry Bishop)
